There are a lot of different factors that make up for how much RAM you need. Whether you’re playing simple games like Angry Birds, or whether you’re playing graphically intense games with plenty of long gaming sessions, there are certain specs that your phone needs to have to make sure the game is played smoothly.
It’s important to note that there is no set rule for what RAM size will be enough for gaming – it really depends on what type of games and how many apps you have running in the background at the same time.
If you’re not into playing games on your android smartphone but need a lot of RAM for watching movies and listening to music, then it’s a good thing that most Android phones nowadays have at least 4GB of RAM.
Our take: I guess this article is designed to promote the sale of smartphones with bigger RAM but I know that my first phone (LG Optimus L9) with only 1 GB RAM has played Angry Birds 1 & 2 without any glitches or lags – which are pretty minimalistic games. Maybe if you play more complex and graphic-intensive games, then having 4-12 GB RAM can ensure glitch-free gaming. But overall, I think 4 GB RAM is enough for the casual gamer.
