There are a lot of VR games now, but most of them are either too basic, full of bugs, or just not worth your time. I’ll skip the obvious ones everyone already knows and tell you the ones that I actually liked — the real best VR games of 2025, not the ones you see on every other list. If you have a Meta Quest 3, PSVR 2, or a good VR setup on PC, you’ll find something solid here. These are not sponsored or hyped — just games that I played and thought, yeah, this is good.
Asgard’s Wrath 2
If you want a long game with an actual story, this is the one. It’s a big, open world, and you feel like you’re in a real adventure. You fight monsters, explore different worlds, and even change characters sometimes. The fights are good, the puzzles are not boring, and it doesn’t feel like it was made in a rush.
You can only play this on Meta Quest 3 right now, so if you have that, go for it. It’s probably one of the best games on Quest 3 at this point. Not many bugs, and it runs smooth. It’s a big download but worth the space.
Resident Evil 4 VR
This is the full horror game but in VR. You feel like you’re inside the village and getting attacked for real. It’s scary in a good way, not just jump scares. You use your hands to aim, reload, grab stuff — it feels real and works well.
They changed the controls so it doesn’t feel clunky in VR. If you’ve played the original game, this version hits different. It’s also longer than most VR games, so you’ll get your time’s worth. If you like survival games or horror stuff, give it a try.
Bonelab
This is a weird game, but fun if you like messing around. The story is okay, but most people play it to throw stuff, test physics, or try mods. You can spawn objects, make your own levels, or download maps from other people.
It doesn’t explain much, so you figure it out by doing things. If you like open-ended games and just want something to fool around in, Bonelab is great. Not super polished, but the freedom is cool. Better on PC VR, but works fine on Quest too.
Arizona Sunshine 2
Zombie shooting, but done properly. You have a gun, you have a dog, and you walk through a destroyed Arizona killing the undead. This game doesn’t try to be smart — it’s just action, and sometimes that’s all you need.
It works in single-player or with friends, and both are good. The weapons feel heavy and the reloading is realistic. The new graphics are better than the first game. If you want something simple and fun where you just shoot things and survive, this is it.
Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR
This is the full Assassin’s Creed experience in VR. You sneak, climb buildings, do parkour, and stab enemies. It’s first-person, which makes it feel more intense. Everything is made for VR, not just copied from the normal games.
If you like stealth and exploration, this is pretty solid. Sometimes the controls can be tricky, but once you get used to it, it’s smooth. You’ll need some space to move around for this one, but it’s worth it. Not the longest game but still very cool.
Beat Saber
Still one of the best games on VR. You cut blocks with lightsabers to the music. It’s super easy to start and hard to stop playing. It also works great as a workout, so if you’re stuck inside, this game helps.
They keep adding new songs, and there are also a bunch of mods if you play on PC. It doesn’t lag, it doesn’t crash, it just works. If you just got your headset and want a fast, fun game to show off VR, start with this.
The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2
A survival game where your choices matter. You’re in a zombie world again, but this one has more story, more characters, and more things to do than just shoot. You need to find food, save ammo, and decide who you help.
The combat is physical — like you really swing your arm to hit. The story’s dark and serious. If you like games that feel more real and have more depth than just action, you’ll like this one. The first chapter was good, and this is even better.
Walkabout Mini Golf
It’s just mini-golf. But in VR, it’s more fun than it sounds. The maps are detailed, relaxing, and kind of beautiful. You can play solo or with friends, and it doesn’t matter if you’re good at golf or not.
The controls are easy. You just swing your arm like in real life. Every map has hidden stuff to find, and they keep adding new ones. It’s a chill game, but it’s also one of the most played games on any headset for a reason.
Half-Life: Alyx
Not new, but still one of the best games ever made in VR. It’s a full story game with puzzles, shooting, and exploration. The graphics are still top-tier. You feel like you’re inside the Half-Life world.
If you have a gaming PC, this should be one of the first games you try. It’s a bit longer than most VR games and actually feels like a real AAA game. You don’t need to play Half-Life 1 or 2 first, but if you did, you’ll enjoy it more.
Conclusion
Most VR games out there are either short, broken, or just not fun. These are not. These are the ones I’d tell someone to actually try — no hype, no sugarcoating. If you’re new to VR or just tired of wasting time on games that feel like tech demos, start here. These games run well, play better, and don’t treat you like a beta tester. You spent money on a headset — it’s only fair you get something solid back. This list gives you that. Try any one of these, and you’ll know you didn’t waste your weekend.
